Admissions Requirements

When applying to the Health & Physical Education, M.A.T. program, you will need to submit several documents for review.

Teacher Preparation Program Effectiveness

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in physical education teacher education is a graduate-level degree that prepares students who are passionate about teaching and want to make a difference in the lives of young people. This program equips students to teach physical education in pre-K through 12th-grade schools. Through a curriculum that includes field-based experiences, online courses, and face-to-face instruction, the MAT degree provides students with a deeper understanding of the physical education curriculum, the knowledge necessary to create and implement engaging and challenging health and physical education experiences that address the physical and emotional well-being of all students, as well as assessment of student learning and instructional adaptations. Graduates will use their acquired knowledge and leadership skills to collaborate with school professionals and promote health and physical education within the school and the community.
