This certificate prepares students for career opportunities in the exciting field of event management. Students will explore a variety of event types including social, corporate, entertainment, cultural, and sporting. Courses in event management and venue management are combined with classes that focus on operational functions including digital marketing, hospitality law, and hospitality human resources. Paired with an existing major, the Certificate in Event Management can create new career opportunities in this industry specialization.

The exercise science program prepares students for careers in adult fitness and wellness, worksite health promotion/corporate fitness, personal training, clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation and other related fields. Preparation is also provided in biomechanical analysis, program management, sports skills development and enhancement, strength and conditioning, and related topics.

What Is Film? Film is one of the leading art forms of the 21st century. To understand the cinematic medium is to be aware of its impact as a cultural and artistic force. Film at Perimeter College examines the analysis, history, theory and critique of the film industry, allowing students to learn how art, business and technology combine to create films that express our 21st century culture. Why Study Film? Georgia has seen explosive growth in the film industry in recent years. Major studios such as EUE/Screen Gems, Pinewood, Tyler Perry, Eagle Rock and Triple Horse have built new facilities in Georgia. This activity generated $6 billion in Georgia in 2015 and created 23,000 new jobs with average salaries of $48,000-$65,000. The Film guided pathway at Perimeter College is the first step on a student’s film career journey. Students will be able to examine the convergence of art, technology, industry, politics and culture and learn to think critically about movies and other forms of visual media. They will learn how cinematography, lighting, music and sound design reinforce the themes and character development in films. The film pathway also is designed to help students smoothly transition to the bachelor’s degree program at Georgia State University, where film is one of the most popular majors. A note on pathways: A pathway is an advising guide to help students prepare for their intended bachelor's degree major. By following the course of study outlined in the appropriate Associate of Arts or Associate of Science pathway, students will have the necessary prerequisite courses to continue in their chosen disciplines. A pathway is not a major and will not be represented on the diploma.

The School of Film, Media, & Theater offers a professionalized dual-degree program for bachelor of arts (B.A.) Film students aspiring for advanced honors-level and master of arts (M.A.) thesis production. This program is designed to take five years (including a student’s freshman and sophomore years), at the end of which, a student will receive both a bachelor of arts degree in film and media and a master of arts degree in communication with a concentration in film, media and digital imaging. The dual-degree program is ideal for students who are sophomores or juniors and want to use their senior year as a segue into graduate work. The senior year would involve advanced coursework that one would usually take in the first year of the M.A. program. The first (and only) year of the M.A. program would involve only advanced coursework and the thesis film.

Robinson’s M.S. in Finance is a forward-looking program focusing on corporate finance, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and fintech. For 2022, TFE Times ranks the program second among public universities and 8th in the nation. The program lasts only 12 months.

Program Information The mission of the Department is to give students the opportunity to develop appropriate proficiencies in the modern and classical languages, to acquaint students with the literary and cultural productions of other countries, and to provide them the opportunity to acquire critical skills through literary and cultural analysis. The French M.A. program is in the heart of Atlanta, known for its vibrant Francophone cultures and home to several French companies. The program supports students’ professional and career needs through a distinctive modern and contemporary Francophone curriculum focused on business, intercultural, intercommunicative, humanitarian, literary and pedagogical domains. The program offers a comprehensive schedule with M.A. courses offered Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., which puts our graduate students on track to complete their degree in 2 years. We also offer Graduate Teaching Assistantships (with a full tuition waiver). Our innovative approaches to teaching and learning provide interdisciplinary and comparative studies: from languages to culture, literature, the visual arts (such as film or the media), sociolinguistics, technology-enhanced learning and other disciplines. Students explore issues of identity, diversity, transnationalism and immigration with disciplines such as law, history and political science, as well as other literatures and cultures. Our students learn by doing and making in courses that engage them in their learning. Our graduate students are called to positively affect their local and global communities thanks to a curriculum that incorporates opportunities for: Workshops (led by prominent Francophone artists, activists and scholars) Internships and externships Practicum Graduate Research Assistantship with professors Students who participate in our Francophone study abroad and exchange programs (to Africa, France, and the French Caribbean) are also exposed to unique outreach, service, and experiential learning opportunities such as externships and internships with nongovernmental organizations, community organizations, and local businesses.
