INTRODUCTION

Dear Georgia State colleagues:

Portrait of Ga State President Carl Patton   Georgia State University’s name recognition and reputation have increased tremendously across the country and internationally. With more than 40,000 students seeking degrees through our six colleges and schools, we have become one of the nation’s leading urban research universities. The national spotlight is increasingly focused on the achievements of our students, faculty and programs.

As we strive to make further advancements, it remains important to strengthen our public image. A critical part of that image is our visual identity – the way we present ourselves in print and through electronic media. First impressions do make a difference. Our visual identity is one of the first and most memorable things people see when they visit our campus, read our publications, see our merchandise or view our Web pages.

The energy of the Georgia State community is reflected in the rich diversity of our academic departments, programs, divisions, and offices. A strong visual identity unites us as a university community and gives Georgia State a public presence that is immediately recognizable to the many constituencies we serve.

Please consult the guidelines set forth on this Web site to answer your questions about visual representations associated with Georgia State. There is also a style guide to help you present written materials that are consistent across the university. If you have further questions, please contact the Department of University Relations at 404/413-3025.

Sincerely,

Carl Patton
President
