Georgia State University

Georgia State University, in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, is a premier research university with a particularly international character. With a student population of over 30,000, it is the second largest university in the state of Georgia. Students represent over 100 nations, demonstrating the increasing cultural diversity of the region as well as the global scope of Georgia State’s academic programs.

For many years, the University has worked to introduce international and intercultural perspectives into its undergraduate and graduate curricula and has provided students and faculty with many opportunities to study and teach in other countries. The College of Arts and Sciences at Georgia State has contributed significantly to these efforts by establishing interdisciplinary research and service centers that focus exclusively on the cultural and intellectual histories of specific regions or peoples, notably with the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies and the Middle East Center for Peace, Culture, and Development. These successful efforts lay the groundwork for the establishment of the Center for Hellenic Studies at Georgia State University.
