FAQs
How do I login to a vClass/Elluminate Course?
Generally, you will log into your uLearn course and see the link and log on information there.
How do I login to a vClass/Elluminate Meeting, Virtual Office, Practice Room, etc.?
Room requestors will receive an email that will include a weblink for the moderator and a different one for the participants. The moderator must email this participant link to those he/she wants to attend. Participants can access the meeting site using that link. No username or password is needed for these meetings.
I didn’t get a username/password for my class.
Usernames and passwords are no longer needed for course sessions. You will access your session through your uLearn course.
I login, but nothing is there.
Elluminate courses and meetings are set to start and end at specific times. Although some may start up to 30 minutes in advance, others may not. You may need to wait for the start time.
I didn’t get a roster of students who were added to my course.
Rosters are no longer needed because the students access the session through their uLearn course.
What are the technical requirements for Elluminate?

· Microphone and speakers or a headset
· Soundcard
· 56K modem or faster
· Ability to complete a client-side install (i.e. download software)
I have a guest lecturer that I would like to speak to my class. What do I have to do to make this happen?
Guest lecturers who will be joining a Elluminate course will need to be added as if they were student. If they are not affiliated with Georgia State University, submit a ticket to help@gsu.edu to make that request.
To invite a guest to a meeting, send the guest the same information you did for the other meeting participants.
I can hear an echo of myself talking, with a slight delay.
This is most commonly associated with another participant in the meeting using their computer speakers. This causes the audio to feed back into their microphone and be transmitted to you. Having them use a headset or headphones is a quick fix. They can also use the Audio menu option "Mute speakers when talking".
I've selected my headset in my systems properties but it isn't working, what can I do?
The most likely cause of your headset not working in the session is that it was selected in your system properties *after* you joined the session. Elluminate will "bind" with your audio sources at the beginning of a session. You may need to quickly close down the Elluminate session, check your headset by playing a sound and recording a little audio, and making certain it is selected in the control panel or system properties on your computer as the sound and recording source. You can rejoin the session and Elluminate will "bind" with the correct audio source. You can also use the Audio Setup Wizard in Elluminate (at Tools->Audio->Audio Setup Wizard) to help you test and set levels.
Can I use a webcam with vClass so my students can see me, or each other? If so, how?
Yes, this is possible by using the video feature.
Click the Video icon and the Show the Video button to launch the video window. To begin, click the Transmit button on the window.
To allow others this ability, click on the video column linked to their name.
What is the difference between vClass/Elluminate and uLearn?
Elluminate is a realtime virtual classroom technology. Courses and meetings are set up only on request. It is a synchronous environment, that is, participants must be logged in at a specific time to participate.
uLearn is a course management system with many available tools including posted documents, quizzing, assignments, threaded discussions, gradebook, and many more. Although some tools may be set for access at certain times, uLearn is more asynchronous than vClass.
