Languages are taught by two units on campus, the department of Modern and Classical Languages (MCL) and the Middle East Institute (MEI). Please check PAWS for class offerings for upcoming semesters. For more information on degree programs and minors please visit the web site of the department or institute offering the language.
All students have the option of taking a language course in Area C (Humanities and Fine Arts) of the Core Curriculum, and doing so is recommended in some degree programs. See section 1410 in the Undergraduate Catalog for Core Curriculum requirements. Students seeking a B.A. or B.I.S. degree in the College of Arts and Sciences must complete the second semester of a foreign language (see section 3030 of the Undergraduate Catalog). There are further language requirements for some majors that can be found in the sections on these majors in the undergraduate catalog.
