During Incept, every first-year student will be presented with a copy of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. Students are expected to read the book by the first day of class. |
| August 21 | Freshman Convocation | Jonathan Safran Foer will deliver the keynote address during Freshman Convocation. |
| September 15 | Faculty Panel | 9/11: America & the World Ten Years Later. Three Middle East Institute faculty members will explore how 9/11 has changed--and continues to change--America and the World. Noon in Troy Moore Library, 9th floor GCB. |

| TBD | Faculty Panel | The Department of English will hosts a Special Literary Roundtable on Extremely Loud & Incredible Close. Topics for the roundtable could include the following: performing a close reading, analyzing texts within a theoretical framework, writing a novel, researching primary and secondary sources, and using unconventional composition techniques in a literary work. |
