COURTYARD MUSIC SERIES
Jacob Reynolds
Tuesday, November 27, 2012
Noon - 1 p.m.
(Student Center next to Food Court)
In 2010, Jacob Reynolds set out to put together a band of the best musicians he could find. He reached right into the heart of Nashville, Music City USA, and pulled out four of the city’s best musicians to join him in 'The Jacob Reynolds Band'. Currently, the band has one goal: making meaningful, lasting, top-shelf, killer rock music. The JRB still calls Nashville home, but they reach out and grab EVERY crowd by the hair and pull them in for a long goodnight kiss. McCoy Gibbs (drums) and Jason Navo (bass) push the train down the track. Nick Goodale (guitar), Josh Robinson (keys), and THE Jacob Reynolds (vocals) weave in and out of each other’s melodic emissions. Go ahead. Try it. Check out “Lipstick Stain” and then tell someone you don’t like it. It’s ok. They won’t believe you because they’ve already heard it. They’re already on board and waiting for you to jump on. The Jacob Reynolds Band isn’t slowing down. You’ve got to catch up.

His highly acclaimed collaborations with Lupe Fiasco, including the single “Superstar” for which he received a Grammy nomination, have served to broaden awareness of Santos whose own style is a unique homegrown hybrid touching on alternative/indie-rock/ soul and folk genres. Jake Ousley is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, and if you don’t love him already, you will undoubtedly fall head over heels once you hear him perform.
After spending countless hours with other independent artists, such as Dave Barnes, Matt Wertz and Andy Davis, Ousley decided he would try his own hand at artistry. His voice and his writing will draw you in, but it’s his live show that will bring you back time and time again. Plus, it’s his talent and the time he takes and the way he glides words up to music and makes them dance together.
Ousley’s songs pull at you like the feeling you get when you get home from being gone too long or when you have a good night with great friends. That kind of sentiment in his songwriting is what got him here. Ousley is just a regular guy with some twang and a twinkle in his eye that will give you the feeling that you’ve known him all your life.
