I have been married to my lovely wife, Thuy Le, for 3 years now.
How long have you been working at Georgia State University?
Before I officially began working for Georgia State University in May 2007, I had started working with GSU as a student assistant in 2001 and a Graduate Research Assistant in 2005.
What do you do on a typical day?
On a day-to-day basis, I enjoy assisting faculty and staffs in the College and departments with their concerns or issues with Web. Particularly, I support them in resolving of work problems related to the Open Text Content Management System. In addition to that, I design and develop custom web applications and frameworks by employing optimal solutions for development and implementation of variety of Web technologies. Besides providing Web supports, I work as part of a team with PC System Specialist Leads in resolving of complex hardware and software issues. Internally, I work with the College IT Manager in server administration. Though my work is challenging, I enjoy and satisfy what I achieve during the day and meet each new challenge with confidence in my ability. Therefore, I feel that I am fortunate to be a part of Georgia State University.
What is your background?
I was born in Vietnam, came to America with my parents and three brothers in 1997. I am a graduate of Georgia State University. In fact, I received my Bachelor¹s degree and Master¹s degree in Computer Science from George State University.
After arriving to the United States, I had to go back to high school for two years. During the time, I took some computer programming courses, and I was fascinated by computers. Thus, my uncle bought me a computer, and this heightened my interest in computer programming and eventually pushed me towards Computer Science.
What do you do when you're not at work?
I spend my free time with my wife to help her learn English and American culture. I enjoy reading books, watching cartoons, and browsing articles on various information technology topics.
What's your favorite thing in your office?
Definitely, my computer! I spend most of my time with it when I am at work.
What don't people know about you?
I like collecting Christmas cards and postcards from friends and coworkers, and I put the cards on the top of my bookshelf. Every day when I come to work and open my office door, the first things I see are the cards. By looking at them, they remind me of my friends.
If you weren't working at Georgia State, what would your ideal job be?
I don¹t know if there is such a thing ³ideal job² because each person has his/her unique talents to their roles. As long as new challenges develop my abilities and make me more productive to reach an organization¹s goal, then I consider that to be an ideal job.
