What is your title? Administrative Assistant, Departments of Philosophy and Religious Studies
Would you like to share a little about your immediate family or family history? I’m from a small immediate family with one sister who also lives in Atlanta. My parents live in Savannah, GA. I’m the furry mother to my one-year old kitty named Winnie.
How long have you been working at Georgia State University? I’ve been working for GSU for five years after transferring from Armstrong Atlantic State University (Savannah, GA) where I worked for 2 years. I’ve been in the university system for quite some time now.
What do you do on a typical day? I’m in charge of the daily operations of the front office to include conference room scheduling and service as building liaison for our departments. Fall semester consists of me publishing the newsletters for both the Philosophy and Religious Studies departments, submitting curriculum/catalog changes as well as attend security meetings with building management of 34 Peachtree. In the spring, I assist the students groups with executing events such as the Philosopher’s Guild’s Rush Week.
What is your background? I moved to Atlanta from coastal Savannah, GA. I graduated from Windsor Forest High School and later attended the historic Howard University in Washington, DC. I majored in Administration of Justice
What do you do when you are not at work? In my leisure time, I enjoy travelling, especially to the coast where I can enjoy the beach. I also love music. Most often you can find me enjoying live music at one of the local venues in town.
What is your favorite thing in your office? Favorite thing? More like favorite things. The atmosphere in our office is amazing because of the leadership and staff members. I enjoy the interaction with the students who love hanging out in our office. It’s like a second home for them.
What don’t people know about you? Most people do not know that I was featured on a national syndicated talk show. I brought my mom and her friend to get makeovers for their upcoming class reunion. The experience was amazing and a lot of fun.
If you weren't working at Georgia State, what would your ideal job be? I would love to be a world traveler working for the show Globe Trekker. Travelling the world is a dream of mine.
