Marlon Gibson

What is your title? Student Affairs Advisor II-Judicial Affairs, for the Office of the Dean of Students.

Would you like to share a little about your immediate family or family history? I am fortunate and very blessed to be married to the lovely Mrs. Sheree Gibson for six great years. No little ones yet, hopefully in the future.

How long have you been working at Georgia State University? I will have worked at Georgia State University for 5 years on August 27, 2012.

What do you do on a typical day? I have the pleasure of adjudicating the Housing Judicial Cases and meeting with many of our great students. I also have the pleasure of serving as the Advisor to the Parking Appeals Committee, of the Student Judicial Board.

What is your background? I have a BA from the University of Toledo in English Creative Writing, and a M.Ed. also from The University of Toledo, in Higher Education Administration. I am looking forward to starting a doctoral program in 2013.

What do you do when you are not at work? I love to work out, especially spinning classes. I also love to spend time with my wife and we are actively involved in our church Cascade United Methodist.

What is your favorite thing in your office? I love the positive energy and all of the student interaction that we are fortunate to have in our office.

What don’t people know about you? Some people may be surprised to know that I have lost over 250 lbs., since January of 2011, all natural no surgery or pills. It has been a heck of a journey, but I have been at the gym every morning at 5:00 a.m., and I run at least 3 miles after work. I also have adopted a vegetarian almost vegan lifestyle.

If you weren't working at Georgia State, what would your ideal job be? I would love to be a personal fitness trainer and a spinning instructor.
