Keith Hill

What is your title? Administrative Supervisor III (Circulation Manager) for the College of Law Library

Would you like to share a little about your immediate family or family history? I’m from a family of 11--5 girls, 6 boys--born and raised in Virginia. Most of my family members reside in Virginia and New Jersey.

How long have you been working at Georgia State University? I’ve been working at GSU since 1999 and enjoying my experiences.

What do you do on a typical day? Is there enough space for me to write everything (smile), I make sure the circulation desk runs in a smooth manner. Plan, review and organize the desk schedule for adequate coverage. Run daily reports. Assist with directional questions from our patrons. Monitor overdue materials and send out fine and fee notices. Provide back-up coverage for Circulation Desk. Oversee patron count and conference room reservations. Ensure the regular comfort and cleanliness of the library for its users. Reserve study rooms for students. Inspects and monitors progress of Law Library work orders and equipment, along with a variety of administrative tasks.

What is your background? I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for over 15 years before moving to Atlanta, where I received my BS in Biology. I was ready for warmer weather and to be closer to my family in Virginia, so I moved to Atlanta. My first job at GSU was a part time position with Auxiliary Services. I’m currently working at the Law Library for over 12 years.

What do you do when you are not at work? Do you really wanna know? (smile) Get ready, the list is long--just teasing, I’ll make it short. I’m a strong believer in community and cultural support (a cultural ambassador). I’ve been the volunteer coordinator for the National Black Arts Festival (NBAF) for over 15 years. Also, I volunteer for numerous community events, such as Alvin Ailey, Jeffrey Cares, and the GSU annual King Convocation and Henry Miller Lecture for the Law School.

What is your favorite thing in your office? All the artwork in the library, it’s nice to see some of my favorite artists on the walls. Also, the art creates a warm and inviting study environment.

What don’t people know about you? I’m the founder and creator of KeithKNOWS.net, a social media site.

If you weren’t working at Georgia State, what would your ideal job be? Running my own media company, attending various events, writing reviews about Atlanta’s culture, cuisine, commerce, and more.
