NIH Public Access Policy
NIH is now requiring all journal articles resulting from NIH funding to be published in PubMed Central no later than 12 months after the official date of publication.
GSU researchers need to
- Notify the publisher, preferably in the submission cover letter, that the research is funded by NIH and reserve the right to comply with this requirement. Suggested language for cover letter is provided as a word download.
- Confirm or add language to the copyright or publishing agreement to ensure that authors retain a license to the article. Suggested language for agreement is provided as a word download.
- Deposit the complete, peer-reviewed article in PubMed Central or, if the journal deposits on your behalf, confirm deposition of the article on PubMed Central. Directions are available at NIH Public Access Policy
- Note the PubMed Central Reference Number in future grant proposals.
Questions should be directed to Cynthia Hall, Assistant Legal Adviser, 404-413-0500.
