Elections

The Student Government Association Constitution sets forth specific Elections Procedures and Guidelines that determine how the elections process runs. Article VI., Section 1 of the Constitution describes the candidate qualifications.

Executive Board Positions

  • President
    Serves as the Official Representative of the student body in University matters
  • Executive Vice President
    Serves as the President of the Senate, votes in cases of a tie in the senate, and serves as a voting member of the Executive Committee

*Please note that the President and Executive Vice President Applications are the same, as the SGA President and Executive Vice President must run as a pair in the elections and fill out one application together.

  • Vice President for Academic Affairs
    Serves as the chair of Student Government Asociation's Academic Affairs Committee and as a voting member of the Executive Committee
  • Vice President for Budget and Finance
    Serves as the chair of Student Government Association's Budget and Finance Committee and as a voting member of the Executive Committee
  • Vice President for Public Relations
    Serves as the chair of Student Government Association's Public Relations Committee and as a voting member of the Executive Committee
  • Vice President for Student Life
    Serves as the chair of Student Government Association's Student Life Committee and as a voting member of the Executive Committee
  • Vice President for Student Services
    Serves as the chair of Student Government Association's Student Services Committee and as a voting member of the Executive Committee

Senator Positions

Senators are voting members of the senate and make up the legislative branch of Student Government Association. Senators serve on various Student Government Association Committees chaired by the Vice Presidents. Senators represent the following colleges at Georgia State University:

  • College of Arts and Sciences (14)
  • Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (2)
  • College of Education (4)
  • Institute of Public Health (2)
  • School of Nursing and Health Professions (2)
  • J. Mack Robinson College of Business (8)
  • College of Law (2)

Election Commission

The Election Commission exists to supervise and regulate the SGA elections in accordance with the SGA Consitution.
There are four Election Commission Seats and one Election Commission Chair.
