Service-Learning can greatly influence the level of knowledge that students gain from taking a given course. By utilizing Service-Learning as an active learning strategy, faculty members can boost students’ interest level in a particular course. Service-Learning also help students get a better understanding of academic material as it provides students with hands-on experience related to the academic material they learn in class.
The Office of Civic Engagement is willing to assist members of faculty that wish to integrate Service-Learning into their curriculum in getting the program going. We would support interested faculty members in finding organizations that they can partner with and we would also help them with other ground work necessary to jump start the program.
