
Outstanding high school seniors are encouraged to apply for Georgia State University’s top merit scholarships. These awards recognize achievement in academics, research, leadership, and service.
The Presidential Scholarship provides the following benefits each semester for eight semesters: 1) Cost of tuition and fees (through HOPE for GA residents), 2) Cost of housing in a 4 bedroom/2 bath unit in the University Commons, and 3) $1000 living expense stipend. In addition, students receive a one-time $2500 stipend for credit-bearing study abroad expenses, use of a lap-top computer during their enrollment, and eligibility for a University Assistantship, a work option to earn an additional $1250/semester.

Students eligible for this award include those for whom Spanish is a first language or who demonstrate a strong interest in and familiarity with Latino/Hispanic culture through participation in Latino/Hispanic community activities. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, service, and financial need.
Outstanding seniors from a high school in Early County, Georgia or transfer students from Bainbridge College are eligible to apply for this award. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 GPA at time of application, demonstrate a strong commitment to their community, and show an interest in the field of Gerontology (students may major in any field, but must minor in Gerontology). The Rice Scholarship provides a $10,000 annual stipend for college expenses not covered by HOPE. The award is renewable for up to four years.
Incoming freshmen from rural Georgia, with a 3.0 or higher high school GPA, are eligible to apply for a Berner Scholarship. Preference is given to students from Troup and Meriwether counties. These merit-based scholarships are half-award and half-interest free loan, to be repaid upon graduation or disenrollment from Georgia State University. Awarded for eight semesters, the current award amount is $5,000/semester for eight semesters.

As Georgia State University approaches its 100-year anniversary in 2013, the university each year recognizes a select group of the most accomplished student-scholars from across the state of Georgia and around the nation with Second Century Scholarships. Established to recruit the very best students in the nation to Georgia State and to support them throughout their studies, Second Century Scholarships will be awarded to those applicants for the freshmen class who have attained the highest academic accomplishments in high school. The minimum requirements to be considered for this award are a Freshman Index score of 3150 with a combined SAT score (math and verbal) of 1250 or ACT composite score of 28. No special application is necessary; these awards will be made as students are accepted into the university based on the students' admissions materials. Each Second Century Scholarship consists of a $3000/year cash award applied to a student’s account and the possibility of a University assistantship, a work study opportunity where students can earn up to $2500/year working in a department or office on campus. These awards are renewable for four years.

The minimum requirements to be considered for this award are a Freshman Index score of 2800 with a combined SAT score (math and verbal) of 1200 or ACT composite score of 27. No special application is necessary; these awards will be made as students are accepted into the university based on the students' admissions materials. The GSU Foundation award is a one-time award of $1000 applied to the student's account, dispersed as $500/semester.

The GSU Achievement award is a one-time award of either $1,000 or $500 applied to the student's account, dispersed as either $500/semester or $250/semester.
