Ally Training
These workshops are conducted in 2 hours. Upon completion of this training, the participant will be able to:
- Identify various types of safety that people want and need regardless of their sexual identity
- Define gender identity & sexual identity as well as identify hetero-normative acts
- Name various privileges that come through heterosexual or gender binary status
- Assist individuals in situations involving the coming out process, homophobia/transphobia and/or internalized homophobia/transphobia
- Assist those with heterosexist and/or transphobic prejudice to examine the basis for their prejudices and change
- Identify resources on campus and in the larger community
- Recognize the challenges faced by members of the LGBTQIQ
