Narrative:

Georgia State University’s General Education Goals define the general education requirements within the core curriculum for all baccalaureate degrees. [1] (Georgia State offers no Associate degrees.) The requirements for all undergraduate programs are in the Undergraduate Catalog.   Education outcomes and assessment plans for each program are available on WEAVEonline. [2]

Both the General Education Goals and the program requirements conform to commonly accepted standards and practices for degree programs.  One major avenue for the fulfillment of the General Education Goals is the Core Curriculum.  It is based on and follows the guidelines of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. [3] Each course in the Core Curriculum, all undergraduate courses, and all program requirements at Georgia State are reviewed by departmental and college curriculum committees prior to approval to ensure that they met commonly accepted standards and practices. [4] (Cf. Requirement 2.7.2, and Standards 3.4.1 and 3.4.10.)

All academic programs are evaluated at least once every seven years as part of the Academic Program Review process. [5] This ensures that all programs conform to commonly accepted standards and practices.  In addition, many programs at Georgia State are accredited by various specialized professional organizations which serve as additional quality controls for undergraduate programs. [6]
