Georgia State has many resources available to enhance and promote faculty development: the Center for Teaching and Learning [1]; University Research Services and Administration [2]; the Instructional Technology Center [3]; the Teaching and Learning with Technology Center [4]. Georgia State also has a professional leave policy, outlined in the Faculty Handbook [5]. In FY 2007, 33 faculty were on professional leave for at least one term during the academic year. Evidence that faculty use the above opportunities and faculty annual accomplishments in teaching and public service is well documented and reported in our annual action plan [6]. In FY 2006, 800 proposals for funding were submitted to various agencies, with 508 awarded for a total of $55.5 million.
In addition, each college publishes, for their faculty, a site containing available faculty development resources within the college: College of Arts and Sciences [7]; Robinson College of Business [8]; College of Education [9]; College of Health and Human Sciences [10]; College of Law [11], and Andrew Young School of Policy Studies [12].
Finally, data from the 2006 annual review process provides evidence of faculty professional development and can be found at [13]. Here, data are drawn from our Faculty Information Management System (FIMS) and aggregated by type of faculty activity: teaching, research, and service. Individual records are available by clicking on the activity in question.
