The BOR Policy Manual (Section 201) requires that the president of each institution be elected by the BOR. Section 202 describes the “Procedure for Selection of a President for University System Institutions.” [1] This process culminates in a search committee recommendation to the BOR and the BOR electing the president.
The President of Georgia State University is evaluated annually by the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia. For example, in a memorandum dated February 15, 2005, Chancellor Thomas Meredith notified all University System of Georgia institution presidents of the upcoming review and the criteria for that review.[2] In addition, with the selection of a new Chancellor this past year, a newly-established BOR policy for the performance assessment of presidents has been put into place.[3]
