Research Integrity
The foundation of all scientific and research endeavors is the integrity of the process. To ensure that Georgia State University faculty, students, and staff meet the highest levels of research integrity, this Office provides ongoing support to ensure the proper treatment of human and animal subjects, address lab and biosafety issues, radiation and environmental safety, provides support for export control regulations, addresses conflicts of interest and commitment, and the ethical conduct and reporting of research.
Georgia State University is committed to ethical research undertaken by students, graduate students and post-docs as well as faculty. GSU requires students (undergraduates, graduates and post-doctoral fellows), new faculty, and employees involved in empirical research to undertake "Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR)" training as part of their academic requirements for graduation, for faculty appointment, or for employment.
Conflicts of Interest and Commitment
Faculty members and staff at Georgia State University can utilize the established University process for reporting conflicts of interest and commitment that occur as part of their teaching, research and service activities.
Research and Scholarly Misconduct
Anyone who suspects research and scholarly misconduct may report suspected misconduct utilizing the established confidential report process.
Responsible Conduct in Research
All undergraduates, graduate students, and post-docs involved in empirical research at Georgia State University are required to undertake Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) education and training as part of their requirements for graduation or employment. As part of this educational requirement, web-based training thru the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) is available for GSU faculty, staff, and students. Before you log onto the CITI training program, please read carefully the “GSU Instructions for RCR Learners”. To log onto the modules provided by CITI, go to http://www.citiprogram.org/
