Electronic Submission of IRB Applications

Using IRBWise

All applications to IRB are made through IRBWise. This system enables completely electronic on-line submission and monitoring of human subject research applications, renewals, amendments, and adverse events notification, as well as supporting documents (e.g. informed consent forms, surveys, questionnaires). The system allows for the electronic routing of applications for signatures. Protocol information is stored in a secure database for tracking and management, and is accessible to appropriate users only (including the PI). There are also automatic protocol expiration warnings via email to PIs.

The link to the online system is: http://irbwise.gsu.edu/

To get started in IRBWise, researchers must obtain log-in information. Once the CITI training has been completed, researchers can contact the IRB staff and a username and password will be created. It is very important that the password is changed to something memorable because it can only be reset by the IRB staff.

Helpful IRBWise Information

The IRBWise site has three main tabs: Alerts, My Protocols, and My Account

  • The Alerts section allows for the Office of Research Integrity to communicate directly with researcher about their protocols, displays actions that need to be completed, and displays expired protocols.
  • The My Protocols section contains all of the protocols of the researcher. The system will allow for the user to sort their protocol submission in multiple ways.
  • The My Account section provides information on all aspects of protocols created under the researchers user ID, like a history of everything that has been done.

For helpful information about completing the application in IRBWise and step-by-step guides see the Application Assistance section of the website.
