Special Research Initiatives

The primary goal of the Office of Special Research Initiatives (OSRI) at GSU is to promote collaboration among researchers at GSU by removing traditional academic barriers to inter-disciplinary research and to increase the scale of GSU research initiatives so our researchers can effectively address major societal issues including human health, education, economic trends, and global business markets. Our aim is to promote and support interdisciplinary research partnerships by providing the following:

  • Facilitation in forming new interdisciplinary research groups;
  • Facilitation of communication within interdisciplinary research groups;
  • Exploration of potential funding opportunities and assistance in developing research projects that best fit the funding guidelines;
  • Assistance and guidance at any stage of the research process (e.g. brainstorming project ideas and strategies, analysis of resources, development of proposals);
  • Administrative set-up for large research projects/centers;
  • Assistance with developing and managing large, multi-institutional research projects/centers.

The Office of Special Research Initiatives is also involved in bringing together faculty from various disciplines throughout the university to share their research and build partnerships through retreats and similar gatherings.
