Submitting a Study for Faculty (PIs)

How to Submit a Protocol for Faculty:

  1. Open the protocol in IRBWise. You should have the protocol summary open on the screen.
  2. On the right side of the screen you will see three buttons that say ‘edit’, ‘print’, and ‘submit’. You will click on the button labeled ‘submit’.
  3. That will open a new screen with a message in a green box at the top of the screen asking you to answer the conflict of interest question. The conflict of interest question is the last question on the page. 
  4. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click the ‘Save and Continue’ button.
  5. The endorsements page will open. You will need to check the box that states that you agree with the statements, type your name, and type your password in the appropriate boxes. 
  6. Below that there are three options. The first option begins, “Attention Students and Staff…”; the second option begins, “Attention Principal Investigators…”; and the third option states, “Submit directly to the IRB”.
  7.  You will make sure the circle next to “Attention Principal Investigators” is darkened.
  8. You will then need to select who the protocol should go to for endorsement. In the recipient section, you can type in the first few letters of your department chair or head’s name in the box and click ‘search’.
  9. You can then select the department head or chair’s name from the drop down menu directly below the search box and click ‘Add Recipient’. The chair’s name should then display in a purple table.
  10. You will then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Submit Protocol’ button.
  11.  A green box should appear at the top of the screen that says ‘Success’. 
  12. You can check the ‘History’ section of the protocol to be sure that the protocol was sent to the correct person.
