Water Safety Instructor
Students will receive certification in American Red Cross Water Safety Instruction. You will be certified to teach all levels of American Red Cross swimming lessons. No absences allowed. You must demonstrate the following strokes with proficency the first night of class: front crawl, elementary backstroke, breast stroke, back stroke, side stroke and butterfly. Books are included. Bring swim suit, towel, lock, dinner/lunch, pencil and notebook each day.

Health and Safety classes with fewer than six (6) participants will be canceled on the date noted by the asterisk (*). Participants can still register after the cancellation date has passed if the class has not been canceled.
Lifeguard Training Review
Need to get re-certified but don't want to spend the time or money for a full course? Complete this review course in only 2 days! Certifications must still be current in order to participate.
Students will be re-certified in Red Cross Lifeguarding & First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and AED training. .
Prerequisite: During the first class, students must swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may use the front crawl, breast stroke or a combination of both. For breast stroke, you must demonstrate the pull, breathe, kick, and glide sequence.
You must also demonstrate: 20 yard front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve 10 pound brick; swim 20 yards with brick returning to starting point in a certain time.
The third component is a 2 minute water tread using only the legs.
