Office of the Provost

Provost

Welcome to our vibrant campus that recognizes that a combination of academic excellence and urban relevance is central to our development as one of the nation's premiere research universities located in an urban setting. We are proud of our beginnings as an evening school of commerce in 1913. We have continued to develop significant strength in business. For example, the US News & World Report in spring 2005 ranked the J. Mack Robinson College of Business FLEX (part-time) MBA program in the top ten nationally for the tenth consecutive year. The Robinson College is the only business school from the Southeast in the top 10.

Our vision is to provide a supportive learning environment within a strong research culture. We strive to fulfill expectations of the citizens of Georgia by providing undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs of the highest quality in the arts and sciences, business, education, health and human sciences, law, and policy studies for traditional and non-traditional students.

We have the most diverse student population in the University System of Georgia. Not only do we continue to recruit a highly ethnically diverse student body while significantly increasing our admission requirements, we also are in the top ten universities nationally for numbers of black undergraduate students who graduate [Black Issues in Higher Education, July 2005, lists us as 3rd nationally and first among traditionally white institutions].

We are committed to the enhancement of interdisciplinary research programs and centers that have achieved national and international recognition, and support for a curriculum and research and outreach programs with intercultural and international perspectives.
