Mega-One-Stop-Shop

8:30 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. Student Center Ballroom

The Mega-One-Stop-Shop is a centralized enrollment services center where new students can receive assistance with all their enrollment needs, as well as additional support for getting off to a successful start at Georgia State. Services include: One Stop Shop (Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Registrar), Immunization, University Housing, Auxiliary and Support Services, Bookstore, and Information Systems & Technology.

 

Try Me Week

Student Recreation Center

Not sure which clinic to take? Try one, two, or as many as you would like for FREE during TRY ME Week and you could win a free registration to a clinic of your choice! Each clinic will be offering a 30-minute demo of the regularly scheduled class. All instructional clinics will be available. Participants will be entered into a drawing for each demo they attend. Two students will be selected to receive a coupon for the Instructional Clinic of their choice. So try one (or four!) to find the clinic that is right for you.  For more information, contact the Student Recreation Center.

 

Click-it or Ticket

9 – 11 a.m. Around Campus

The Click-it or Ticket team, composed of students, staff and faculty will be stationed at various parking decks around campus rewarding students who are wearing their seatbelts when driving.  The “Click it or Ticket” team is eager to welcome students back to campus and remind students of the importance of using a safety belt. For more information contact University Police.

 

Ask Me Booths*

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Around Campus

Trying to find your way around? Stop by one of the Ask Me Booths located around campus during the first week of classes. Faculty, staff and students will be on hand to guide you with directions and maps, plus you’ll get a Georgia State freebie! For more information, contact the Office of New Student Orientation & Parent Relations.

 

Current Georgia State student, faculty, and staff who wish to volunteer for an Ask Me Booth shift can sign up here.  Please note:  This is not an appropriate event for volunteer experience for new  freshman or transfer students. 

Georgia State Idol Auditions

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Speaker’s Auditorium

Do you have what it takes to be the next Georgia State Idol? If so, try-out for the 7th annual Georgia State Idol competition. Students will perform for a panel of judges, vying for a spot in the finals on Tuesday, August 28 at the Rialto Center for the Arts.

 

Lunch & Learn: Surviving & Thriving During Your First Year of College: Or Just Getting By

Noon – 1 p.m. TBA

This interactive workshop will offer you a chance to learn some strategies for preventing and managing stress, for taking control of your own time, and for dealing with the changes that accompany transition to college.  Whether you are commuting to GSU or reside on campus, this workshop will give you some tips for having a better quality of life as you adjust to your first year of college. In the meantime, contact the Counseling & Testing Center for more information.

Spotlight Programs Board at Unity Plaza

Counseling & Testing Center Open House

2 – 4 p.m. Citizen’s Trust Building, 2nd Floor

Drop by and enjoy some snacks while you tour the Counseling & Testing Center and Student Health Promotion Office.  You will be able to learn about where you can take that History & Constitution exam required for graduation, get advice about nutrition, smoking cessation, sexual health, or substance use,  see a counselor on a walk-in basis if you need it, join a support group, learn to meditate, or just chill in the massage chair in our relaxation room.   Whether you need these services or want to be a Panther-in-the-know so that you can assist a friend, please come on by and enjoy some snacks and learn about the resources that are available at the Counseling & Testing Center and Student Health Promotion Office., contact the Counseling & Testing Center for more information.

I’m a Sophomore, Now What?

Do you have questions about Georgia State University?  Are you still trying to define what it means to be a GSU student? Well come on down to “I’m A Sophomore, Now What” town hall gathering.  A representative from Financial Aid, the Scholarship Resource Center, Career Services, and the Student Advisement Center will be present to provide you an informal approach to helping you be successful at Georgia State University.  Sophomore year is one of the most important periods of your undergraduate academic career.   Are you questioning your next steps? Have you chosen the right major? Are you on the right track to graduation?  Do you want to know the requirements for scholarships and financial aid?  This is your time to explore the answers to these questions while meeting fellow peers and staff at Georgia State University! LGBTQIQ Reception

5 – 7 p.m. Veteran's Memorial Hall

Meet and greet other students, staff and faculty from the LGBTQIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, Queer, Intersexed, and Questioning) community and learn ways to get involved with programs such as Safe Zone. Panther Fitness Challenge

Do you have what it takes? The Panther Fitness Challenge will demo one of the newest Group Fitness classes on the schedule – H.I.I.T! If you are looking for the ultimate workout this is for you.
