Interested in joining a social fraternity? Come meet the five Interfraternity Council (IFC) fraternities and gain information about individual chapters and the fraternity rush process. Registration is required to attend in advance at www.gsuifc.com. For more information contact, Greek Life.
Freshman Convocation
3 – 4 p.m. Sports Arena
Freshman Convocation is a formal induction ceremony to welcome all new freshmen to Georgia State. The University president officially inducts the new freshman class into the campus community through a medallion ceremony and recitation of the Freshman Pledge. Festivities continue afterward with a Block Party for the Class of 2016 and their families. This event is mandatory for all freshman students, both residential and commuter. 4 – 7 p.m. Hurt Park & Gilmer Street
Georgia State students, faculty and staff are invited to kick off the academic year at the Panther Welcome Block Party, following Freshman Convocation! Festivities will feature food, games, music and giveaways. Meet Georgia State student-athletes, including the 2012 football team. The Block Party is hosted by Admissions, Athletics, Office of New Student Orientation & Parent Relations, Spotlight Programs Board, Student Advisement Center, Student Government Association, Student Alumni Association, and Undergraduate Studies.
