Ask Me Booths

8 a.m. - 3 p.m. – Different locations around campus

Trying to find your way around? Stop by one of the Ask Me Booths located around campus during the first week of classes. Faculty, staff and students will be on hand to guide you with directions and maps, plus you’ll get a Georgia State freebie!

Mega-One-Stop-Shop

8:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. – Student Center Ballroom

The Mega-One-Stop-Shop is a centralized enrollment services center where new students can receive assistance with all their enrollment needs, as well as additional support for getting off to a successful start at Georgia State. Services include: One Stop Shop, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Academic Information, Immunization, University Housing, Ask-Me-Booth, Auxiliary and Support Services Information, Bookstore, Registrar, and IS&T.

Auxiliary and Support Services Fair

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. – Unity Plaza, Student Center

The Office of Auxiliary and Support Services sponsors this day of fun and food for the entire Georgia State community. There will be lots of games and freebies, with music provided by 95.5 the Beat! For more information contact the Office of Auxiliary and Support Services.

Georgia State Idol Auditions

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m. – Courtyard Stage, Student Center

Do you have what it takes to be the next Georgia State Idol? If so, try-out for the 4th annual Georgia State Idol competition. Students will perform for a panel of judges, vying for a spot in the finals on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the Rialto Center for the Arts. Try Climb – Climbing Wall

Noon - 4 p.m. – Student Recreation Center Climbing Wall

Georgia State students are invited to climb our 35-foot indoor climbing wall. No experience or certification required. See what rock climbing entails, meet new people, talk with staff about rock climbing trips and the Climbing Club, and learn how to get certified so you can use the wall independently as a way to get in shape. Safe Zone Training

3 - 5 p.m. – Student Center, Sinclair Suite

Safe Zone training will address LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexed and questioning) issues in order to increase knowledge of the diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity.  Training is designed to reduce homophobia and heterosexism by raising awareness of its presence and potential impact on individuals in our community. All members of the Georgia State community are invited to attend and no sign-up is required. For more information contact the Office of Intercultural Relations.

Student Leadership Panel

3:15 - 4 p.m. – Student Center, Lanier Suite

Come out and meet current GSU student leaders. Students will receive information on what student organizations are available and how to get connected to the campus community. 

Nintendo Wii Bowling Tournament

4 - 6 p.m. – Student Recreation Center Game Room

Do you have what it takes to be the first Georgia State Wii Bowling Champion? Join the Department of Recreational Services as they introduce the new Wii System to the Game Room. For more information contact the Student Recreation Center.

Safe Zone Welcome Social

5:30 - 7 p.m. – Student Center, Golden Key Room

Following the Safe Zone training from 3 - 5 p.m., join the Safe Zone Coordinating Committee and the Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity as they welcome all new LGBTQIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexed, and questioning) students and their straight allies. Welcome Back Pool Party

7 - 10 p.m. – Student Recreation Center Aquatics Center

Come to the pool party dressed and ready to play. Also, enjoy free food on the patio, a live DJ and games in the leisure pool. For more information contact the Student Recreation Center.
