The OEM was formed in 2007 in order to address the full spectrum of potential hazards and threats associated with an urban-based research university. Since its inception, OEM has implemented numerous emergency notification resources and facilitated a comprehensive emergency response organization. OEM is currently engaged in developing unit-based emergency operations plans, reviewing existing plans, preparing incident specific response annexes to existing plans, working with interagency and local agency representatives in exercise planning, and developing a series of training seminars for presentation to university units related to emergency planning, response and recovery.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for the comprehensive, "all-hazards/threats" emergency and disaster management planning efforts for Georgia State University. We provide planning, training, grant assistance, inter-departmental coordination and emergency response assistance for major emergencies or disasters.
