Family Weekend at Georgia State University will kick off Saturday, Oct 6 with a host of events planned to highlight the university’s vibrant student life and world-class faculty.

The weekend, which is organized by the office of New Student Orientation and Parent Relations, includes campus tours, a tailgate party before the Georgia State football game against New Hampshire and the opportunity to catch the game at 3:30 p.m., Saturday in the Georgia Dome.

“Family Weekend is a great opportunity for the whole family to come back to the Georgia State campus, and enjoy all that Atlanta and the Georgia State community has to offer,” said Melissa Ohlfest, program specialist in the Office of New Student Orientation and Parent Relations.

After exploring GSU’s campus during the campus tours on Saturday morning, families will also be able to attend to a university nursing class and learn about Greek life at a new session called, “It’s Greek to Us.”

“For parents, the educational class is an awesome opportunity to see what the classroom environment is like,” Ohlfest said. “We want parents and families to feel welcome this weekend and to be reminded that GSU is their community too.”

In addition, GSU's Student Recreation Center will be open to participants all weekend for a discounted adult admission of $3 for adults, $2 for children. Georgia State students are admitted free with their Panther Card.
