Ndosi Anyabwile’s two-minute movie, titled “Spilled Milk,” is taking him all the way to Tinseltown.
The GSU senior’s film will be screened for “best picture” June 21-23 during Campus MovieFest (CMF) Hollywood, the world’s largest student film festival.

“This was the experience I needed to take control of what I want in life,” said Anyabwile, whose team name is Gorilla Tactix Entertainment. “Normally, if a contest like this came up I would let it pass me by out of fear that I'm not good enough. However, I realized that I should just make films regardless of what anyone thinks if I want to call myself a filmmaker.”
Anyabwile, a film major, created the movie this spring when CMF provided free equipment, training and technical support to all GSU students, faculty and staff who wanted to create their own short movie in just one week. His film will be screened with more than 200 other winning films from schools across the nation.
“Most of the time that was supposed to be used for filming was used to throw around ideas,” he said. “We had a bunch of laughs on set, but it was stressful because it was an intense race against the clock.”
Anyabwile, who is minoring in photography, was the choreographer, director, editor, cinematographer and visual effects artist on the film, which is about “two guys who take it to the extreme when the other drinks all the milk.” He casted friends Chase Walker and Kerry Reed as the leading actors.
“I really enjoy having a finished project to share with people, and it is also great to watch your films improve after each film you make,” said Anyabwile, who has been making films since 2008. “I'm passionate about film because it is a great way for people to visualize what ideas are constantly bouncing around in my head.”
While in Hollywood, Anyabwile will have the opportunity to attend a host of events, including educational workshops and panels led by industry professionals, sneak peak screenings of Hollywood movies and a red carpet awards ceremony.
Other GSU student film teams that will be screened in Hollywood are “Second Chances” created by The Captain’s Team and “Director’s Cut” created by AllenellA Productions.
“We’re thrilled by this year’s competing films, and Georgia State University should be proud of their students’ work,” said David Roemer, co-founder of CMF.
