George L. Pullman, associate professor of English and founding director of the Writing across the Curriculum program, will become Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Provost Risa Palm announced that Pullman will assume his duties on May 16. He is currently Director of the Critical Thinking through Writing initiative that is part of the Quality Enhancement Plan central to the last Southern Association of Colleges and Schools self-study.

Pullman has been a faculty member at Georgia State since 1990, specializing in rhetorical theory. He is currently the editor of JAC Online, and has a keen interest in connecting technology, learning and teaching.

Pullman will build on the successes of Center for Teaching and Learning, will work to connect other places on campus where teaching and learning are currently being facilitated and will develop new strategies to enhance student learning. These activities will be a key component of implementing the university’s new Strategic Plan.
