ATLANTA— Georgia State University will host the 5th annual Italian Film Festival on campus March 24 through March 27, presenting new Italian films in 35mm at the Rialto Center for the Arts.

A special feature of this year's festival will be a showing of Fellini's “La Dolce Vita” in 35mm at 8 p.m. on March 24, celebrating the film’s 50th anniversary. The film was first featured in Atlanta at the Rialto in 1960.

The festival will also feature six additional 2009-10 award winning films from newcomers and Oscar winning directors with a mix of comedy, romance and drama. Those films are “Happy Family,” “18 Anni Dopo,” Dieci Inverni,” “Dalla Vita in Poi,” “Ex” and “Genitori e Figli.”

This free event is being hosted by the Italian Studies section in the Department of Modern Classical Languages at Georgia State University, in collaboration with the Department of Communications - Film Studies Program, CENCIA and the Italian Film Festival of Miami.

No tickets are necessary for any of the films. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. All films are in Italian with English subtitles. For more information and for the festival schedule, please visit www.cinemaitaly.com.
