The Guest List

Randy Patterson (B.B.A. '98, M.B.A. '01), vice president of human resources at Recall, a records management company, and alumni board member since 2009, shares the top 10 reasons you should join him at an Alumni Association tailgate this football season.

1. Connect with others.
Tailgating is perhaps the best opportunity to have fun while connecting with other GSU alumni. Every home game feels like "homecoming."

2. Entertain family and guests.
Kids under 3 get in free, and they enjoy the event as much as the adults. Children 4-12 are only $5. This is also a great opportunity to bring along a friend or relative for only $10 to share in the GSU experience.

3. Grab a bite and a beverage.
Skip's Chicago Dogs does a great job, including hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers, chicken sandwiches and sodas. Football is always more fun with a full stomach.

4. It's easy and free!
Have all the fun of a tailgate without the hassle. The Alumni Association organizes the event, so you just need to show up and have fun. Alumni Association members get in free - what a perk. Forgot your membership card? They can look you up on the spot.

5. Get pumped and show your pride.
The energy at the tailgate event is absolutely contagious. Show off your pride with GSU gear and show current GSU students what they have to look forward to!

6. Location, location, location.
The tailgate is conveniently located outside the Dome with quick access prior to the game.

7. Enjoy the weather.
Nothing beats a beautiful Saturday in the fall in Atlanta. The large tent also provides great shade or protection from rain.

8. The game before the game.
You can participate in the tailgate tradition of testing your hand-eye coordination with a number of fun games located within the tailgate event.

9. Giveaways and special guests.
Walk in empty handed and leave with special GSU gifts. You'll also have the opportunity to meet special guests.

10. Timing.
The event kicks off two hours before kickoff, which provides plenty of time to arrive, eat, enjoy yourself and extend the fun well beyond four quarters of football.
