Awards Information
The Royal Flame Awards is the annual recognition ceremony sponsored by Student Activities that honors the many contributions of students and campus organizations to the university. A variety of awards are presented during the ceremony that acknowledges chartered student organizations, outstanding student leaders, student programming, and organization advisors, among others. Any student, faculty /staff member, or student organization at Georgia State University can be nominated, and all staff and students may submit nominations for the awards.
The annual awards program takes place early Spring Semester. The 2011-2012 Royal Flame Awards ceremony will be on Monday, April 16th. The forms to submit a nomination will be available on February 12th. The following links show the necessary criteria for each award:
- A.C.E. (Academic & Co-Curricular Excellence) Award
Awarded to one student annually. - Advisor of the Year
Awarded to one Advisor annually. - Outstanding Diversity Program
Awarded to one group/organization annually. - Outstanding Leadership Program
Awarded to one group/organization annually. - Outstanding Partnership Program
Awarded to one group/organization annually. - Rising Star
Awarded to one student annually. - Student Leader of the Year
Awarded to one student annually. - Student Organization of the Year
Awarded to one organization annually.
The Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding commitment to student involvement and is the highest student leadership award presented by the university. For nearly 40 years, Nell Hamilton Trotter was a loyal member of the Georgia State University community. She was the first Dean of Women at Georgia State and served for many years as a dedicated faculty member. Dean Hamilton Trotter personified the ideal qualities that we expect students, especially student leaders, to emulate.
