IS&T

Customer Survey

Fall 2011

In the Fall of 2011, IS&T completed our third semi-annual customer survey, asking customers to rate and comment on our services. We surveyed almost half of students, faculty and staff on campus, and approximately 700 members of the university community responded to the survey.

As in the two previous surveys, our findings show that improvement in wireless capacity and coverage continues to be needed as the size of the campus and its media delivery needs grow. In the Fall of 2011, IS&T expanded overall network capacity by enhancing wiring between campus buildings for speeds that are up to ten times faster than previous equipment. In addition, we are improving the wireless network with upgraded access points and simpler sign-in access.

Respondents also indicated a need to further develop classroom and meeting-space technology. We are addressing this concern by updating classroom computers, bringing Windows 7 into the various collaborative learning spaces on campus, and making newer technologies, such as video teleconferencing and improved Crestron control panels, available in more on-campus areas.

Additionally, the survey indicated an interest in improved enterprise-wide university information systems related to services such as financial, payroll and student information management. IS&T continues to work with the providers of these services to deliver improved relationship management and enhanced communication of system status and feature improvements.

We invite you to read more about the findings of the survey and IS&T's planned response.
