ABOUT

Information Systems & Technology (IST) provides research computing services for Georgia Sate University. IS&T also provides leadership for enterprise research computing infrastructure.

BACKGROUND:

The original IS&T research computing unit (Advanced Campus Services) was formed in February 2000 to study, address and coordinate emerging technological solutions. Emerging trends have included directories, authentication/authorization, e-mail groups, identity management, distributed computing, research computing and virtual computing.

IS&T research computing deploys cyberinfrastructure for high-performance computing, grid and cooperative computing and data storage.

IS&T works closely with the chief information officer and the vice president for research to ensure that its activities are aligned with Georgia State University's strategic initiatives to increase research funding and support strategic areas of focus such as the Molecular Basis of Disease program or the Neuroscience Institute.
