IS&T's Guiding Principles of Culture
Information Systems and Technology's (IS&T) Guiding Principles of Culture help shape our decision making and focus our actions toward strong customer service, efficient collaboration, solid reliability, and innovative performance. With these principles, IS&T can continually expand our ability to be the provider of choice to our customers and the employer of choice to our staff. The desired result is a culture within IS&T that helps us operate successfully to serve our customers.
What does this mean to IS&T and Georgia State University?
For IS&T, embracing these principles of culture means we are purposeful in our work for customers and with each other. For Georgia State it means that we are focused on the strategic needs of the university and how we can help the GSU community be successful in work here at Georgia State.
Best Practices at Work: Everyone Owns It

Value-Driven IT: Performance Leads the Way
- We know that our staff members are our most valuable asset and are critical to our success. Adopting stated cultural principles is an investment in our staff which helps us work more effectively on our customers' behalf.
- Our culture helps us accelerate performance levels to optimize return on university IT investments.

IS&T's Leadership Team developed these cultural principles in 2010, along with specific actions that promote positive culture. Throughout 2011, we will "roll out" various themes on a monthly basis during small-group workshops. Over this period, staff will provide input through the workshops in helping shape our principles. Our collaborative efforts in putting these behaviors in practice culminates with a shared understanding of goals and a better IS&T.
