Technology Engineering
Technology Engineering designs, builds, enhances and repairs information technology infrastructure solutions such as networks, servers and databases and multi-platform tools as well as end-user technology solutions such as printers, audio/visual systems, e-mail, portals, collaboration tools and business intelligence systems.
The Technology Engineering unit encompasses:
- Audio/Visual and Facilities Engineering including engineering services for printers, copiers, audio/visual systems, sensors and controls; and engineering for physical environments that house IT equipment such as racks, furniture, power and cooling.
- Database Management Systems Engineering including engineering services for database management systems that hold, manage and provide access to data elements or objects.
- Content Management Systems Engineering including engineering services for information technology solutions that hold, mange and provide access to document objects such as Web pages and PDF files.
- Application Server Engineering including engineering services for environmental software that provides services to applications such as Oracle Applications Server, Cold Fusion, Tomcat and J2EE application servers.
- End-User Tools Engineering including engineering services for information technology analytical, collaboration and communication tools intended for direct use by clients such as word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, portals, collaboration systems, instant messaging and Web conferencing.
- Network Engineering including engineering services for data, voice and video networks that move data between physical locations.
- Platform and Storage Engineering including engineering services for computer hardware and operating system software that manages the hardware. Engineering services for systems that store electronic data and provide access to multiple computer platforms such as storage arrays, network file systems and backup solutions.
- Multi-Platform Tools Engineering including engineering services for IT solutions that manage or extend multiple platforms and services such as job schedulers, monitoring systems, security tools and data collection/analysis tools.
- Technology Science and Disciplines Engineering including engineering services for information technology methods, tools and disciplines such as software ergonomics, software-engineering tools, encryption techniques, information engineering, artificial intelligence, equations and modeling.
