The SPD unit provides planning and development support to the Associate Provost (AP) to promote university wide collaborations, explore and initiate international initiatives and partnerships and further global engagement as we implement Goal 5 of GSU’s newly adopted strategic plan (2011-2016/21).
We organize, manage and convene International country and regional Task Forces to structure Georgia State’s interaction in priority countries
SPD provides technical assistance to university faculty who pursue externally funded international capacity building and training projects. The following services are available:
Project Sourcing
Identify viable Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Applications (RFA) that match university capabilities, experience and interests.
Needs Assessment
Visits for data gathering, to meet likely partners, identify potential collaborators and to understand the scope of the problem(s) and donor and recipient expectations.
Project Design
Design thoughtful, creative projects that meet donor specifications and place the university at a competitive advantage.
Proposal Development
Draft and edit proposals and prepare related documents required for internal review/approval and proposal submission.
Budget Development
Develop budgets that meet donor specifications and university and USG requirements. Provide assistance to negotiate Best and Final offers with potential contractors or grantors.
Implementation and Work Plan Development
Develop detailed plans that identify activities, outputs and outcomes.
Monitoring and Evaluation Planning and Implementation
Develop Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) plans and assist with their implementation.
Project Management
Including start-up and staffing, project implementation, reporting and contract compliance and project close-out.
Initiatives supported by PDM have resulted in $ xx million in external grants, contracts and cooperative agreements and have secured funding in areas as diverse as strengthening small business and entrepreneurship training in South Africa, technical assistance and training for the tourism sector in Ghana, an Environmental Law capacity building project in Central America, an English Language teacher training capacity building project in Mexico and several business education capacity building projects in Egypt.
