IUGB Partnership

Cooperation between Georgia State University and the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire dates back to 1994, when a GSU-Ivorian student exchange program laid the foundation for the formation of the International University of Grand Bassam (IUGB). IUGB was established as a privately governed institution in 2005.  Enrollment has grown from eight students in 2005 to 161 in 2009. With three schools (a Pre-Undergraduate Program, a School of Arts, Science and Technology, and a school of Business, International Relations, and Economic Policy, IUGB is poised for  continued growth and expansion as an American-styled institution offering both undergraduate and graduate education.

As IUGB’s American partner, GSU provides ongoing technical assistance in: (1) curriculum development, (2) staff development, and (3) strengthening of management and administrative systems. In 2009-2010, GSU supported leadership and capacity building for the academic program and financial and administrative operations through the provision of long-term experts to serve as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Finance and Administration.

GSU's 2+2 exchange program with IUGB has 31 students enrolled as of fall 2010, making it one of largest such programs on campus.

The Office of International Affairs coordinates GSU's partnership with IUGB.
