Transfer Incept: New Student Orientation

New transfer students can pick from two different conference formats. Each conference format covers the same orientation information, but each has a different structure.

Incept TRANSFER EXPRESS: This condensed four-hour program of orientation activities is designed specifically for transfer students seeking a basic introduction to the University, focusing primarily on academic advisement and course registration. Check-in for the TRANSFER EXPRESS conference is 7–7:55 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center (101 Piedmont Avenue). The conference will last until noon.

Freshmen/Transfer COMBINATION: This conference is a full day of orientation activities and is designed for students who are unable to attend orientation in May, June, or July. Students are strongly encouraged to attend a transfer-specific conference over the COMBINATION option. Check-in for the COMBINATION conference is 7–7:55 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center (101 Piedmont Avenue). The conference will last until 5 p.m.

NOTE: New transfer students entering in the summer semester will only have the freshmen/transfer COMBINATION format to choose from.

Georgia State has designed a mandatory online pre-orientation to help new transfer students understand more about Georgia State policies and procedures. For more information about pre-orientation, click here.

Transfer STEM Majors Information Session

Transfer STEM Majors (Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geosciences, Mathematics, Neuroscience, and Physics) are invited to join the Office of STEM Education Initiatives for a free afternoon information session following the Transfer Express INCEPT on June 27, 2013.   The information session will focus on the keys to making a smooth transition to GSU as a STEM major.  Students will have the opportunity to meet with advisors from the STEM departments, have a Q&A session with successful STEM transfer students, and take a virtual tour of campus that highlights STEM help-centers.

The program is free, but requires advance registration.  To register, follow this link:  The program is free, but requires advance registration.  To register, follow this link:  http://bit.ly/ZsHv3l
