   Dr. Matthew K. Robison

Matthew has worked in the area of Student Affairs for the past twelve years and has been at Georgia State University for the past six years, where he currently serves as Assistant Dean of Students. In his role as Assistant Dean, Matthew oversees the areas of New Student Orientation, Parent Relations, Greek Life, Student Organizations, and serves in various other capacities within the Office of the Dean of Students. Before working at Georgia State, Matthew served for over four years as Director of Student Activities and New Student Orientation at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts. While completing his Master's degree, Matthew worked for two year at St. John's University, Manhattan Campus, in the areas of Residence Life and Student Activities.

Matthew holds an Associate's degree from Itawamba Community College, a Bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University, and a Master's degree from New York University. He recently received a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Georgia State.

As the Coordinator for New Student Orientation, Amanda's responsibilites include planning and developing the Incept: New Student Orientation program as well as Freshman Convocation and Panther Welcome. Before working at Georgia State University she served as the Director of Student Activities at Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. From 2008-2010, she lived abroad in Rabat, Morocco with her husband. Amanda received her Master of Arts in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Framingham State University and also holds an Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design from Newbury College.

Melissa currently serves as the Program Specialist for Parent Relations within the Office of New Student Orientation and Parent Relations. Melissa came to Georgia State Univeristy in June 2010 after completing her Master of Science degree in Student Affairs from Missouri State University in May 2010. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from Missouri State University.

As a student affairs professional, Melissa is passionate about parents/families of our current college students and she looks forward to working with students and parents alike throughout the year. Melissa works directly with the Parents Association as their direct university contact. She also advises Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society and Tau Sigma Transfer Honor Society.

Sylvia is the Administrative Coordinator, Senior for the Office of New Student Orientation and Parent Relations. During work hours she enjoys helping new students navigate their way through Georgia State University and after work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Sylvia received her Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies in December 2011 and is currently working on a Bachelor's degree in Human Services.

Brittany Hughes

Brittany is the current Graduate Administrative Assistant for Incept: New Student Orientation. At this time she is pursuing her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. Brittany also attended Georgia State University as an undergraduate where she completed her dual degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies. As an undergraduate student Brittany was active in leadership roles within her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta. It was during this time that Brittany fell in love with all that the Georgia State campus has to offer and was encouraged to continue her education here. Brittany recognizes that college and young adulthood is a time of great growth and development for many people.  After graduation she would like to work with young adults in a professional counseling setting either at a university or community agency.

Brittany Sands is currently the Graduate Administrative Assistant to the Program Specialist for Parent Relations.  Brittany came to Georgia State in June 2012 after completing her Bachelors degree in Human Services at Kennesaw State University. She is currently receiving her Master's degree in Education for School Counseling with a focus in Elementary level. In addition, Brittany works as a Smith After School teacher and greatly enjoys being a part of students' lives both at the elementary and college level.  She feels that city living offers the students at Georgia State a chance to celebrate diversity and grow their understanding of others.  Brittany enjoys all the wonderful opportunities that Georgia State offers its students, and feels she could not have picked a better program or university!
