Mission
The mission of the Office of Employee Relations is to influence partnerships that have a positive impact on the University community.
We accomplish our mission by working to increase employee morale, encouraging fair employment practices and by creating, revising, managing and implementing policies and procedures that are fair and accurate to all employees
Vision
The vision of Employee Relations is the be the clearinghouse for all personnel policies, procedures and disciplinary actions at Georgia State University
What We Do
- Write, revise, develop and interpret policies and procedures that apply to the staff at Georgia State University
- Serve as trusted advisor to top University officials as it relates to Performance Management and staff policy clarification
- Serve as trusted advisor to managers and staff members as they attempt to negotiate the conflicts that arise in the workplace
- Collaborate with other offices to implement University-wide training ranging from Performance Evaluation training to Conflict Management training
- Create tools, templates and information to aid and direct managers on the essentials of performance management
- Administer annual employee appreciation and recognition events designed to increase employee morale
- Serve as a resource for employees who are not sure where their complaint or concern should be addressed
- Encourage positive working relationships through training and coaching
- Manage unemployment compensation claims
- Facilitate the Staff Grievance Process
