Who is eligible to participate in professional development courses and workshops?
Professional development classes are available to all faculty and staff regardless of experience or educational background.
What if I have to work when a courses is offered?
Most courses are offered during work hours. Managers are encouraged to allow employees to participate. Employees who attend professional development programs during work hours are normally not required to make up time spent in class.
How can I find out about upcoming courses?
Professional development courses and workshops are listed on the Human Resources Calendar of Events. Both University-sponsored professional development and professional development offered by the Georgia State University are announced in the Catalogue.
How do I register for a course?
Employees may register online at by clicking here. Registration is accepted on a first-come basis.
How do I pay for workshops that have a fee?
We accept speed type codes unless otherwise informed by the workshop write-up. Payment must be made at the time of registration and approval from a supervisor to use the departmental speed type code. If you have questions concerning workshop payment or payment options please contact Organizational Development and Consulting Services at 404.413.3292.
Do I receive credit for these classes?
Employees who attend all workshops in a series receive professional development certificates for these programs. Records are maintained on participants in all programs sponsored by the Division of Human Resources. Employees may apply for Continuing Education Units (CEU) through ODCS in the Division of Human Resources.
