Dr. Marilyn A. De LaRocheDirector of University Housing | E-mailDr. De LaRoche is the Director of University Housing. She has over 24 years of experience in residential housing as well as several years of experience in protective services. Dr. De LaRoche received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics with emphasis in Business from the University of Missouri Columbia in Columbia, Missouri. She received her Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and her Master of Science in Education in Student Personnel from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Her Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Management was received from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. From the University of Georgia, Dr. De LaRoche also received an International Certification on Comparative Higher Education having completed studies at the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies, the Netherlands, and Universities in both Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. In addition, Dr. De LaRoche is a nationally Certified Educational Facilities Professional through APPA, the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. At Georgia State University, Dr. De LaRoche currently serves as a member of the Vice President of Student Affairs senior leadership team; the University Crisis Team; the Safety and Security committee; and the Enrollment Management Group. Her professional affiliations are with Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA); the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA); the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I); and the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors-International (ACCED-I). |

Dr. Mylon KirksyAssociate Director | E-mailDr. Mylon Kirksy is the Associate Director of University Housing for Residence Life. He has over 10 years of professional experience in student affairs, residence life, and housing services. Mylon received his Bachelors of Science in Political Science and Public Relations from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He received his Masters of Communication and Information Studies in Organizational Communication from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. His Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Administration was received from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Dr. Kirksy's areas of expertise are in student learning and organizational research, assessment, and evaluation. His professional affiliations are with the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). In 2007, Dr. Kirksy received the NASPA Region VI Mid-level Professional Award. |

Laurence UphoffAssociate Director - Operations | E-mailLaurence is the Associate Director of Operations for University Housing. He has 35 years of experience in housing maintenance, construction methods, facility management, and project development. Laurence received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Illinois State University. At Georgia State University, Laurence is responsible for administering and directing all activities associated with the operations of the Department of University Housing. He recommends facility improvements and participates in developing short and long term goals for maintaining and improving the physical facilities. He manages all residential buildings at GSU's University Commons, University Lofts, Freshman Hall, Special Interest Housing and the Piedmont North Complex. Laurence was involved in the construction of the University Commons, Freshman Hall, Special Interest Housing, and the renovation of the Piedmont North Complex. He is professionally associated with Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA). |

Shannon CoreyAssistant Director for Community and Staff Development | E-mailShannon has worked in Housing and Residence Life for over 8 years. Through programming, training, and development, she enjoys seeing the impact they all have on both students and staff at GSU. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Old Dominion University. Shannon is professionally affiliated with Georgia Housing Officers (GHO), Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO), Association of College and University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO-I), and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). |

Sharon GermanAssistant Director for Business Services and Financial Operations | E-mailSharon German is Assistant Director for Business Services and Financial Operations for University Housing. She has 10 years of budget and financial experience at Georgia State University. Sharon received a Bachelor of Arts from Spelman College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia State University, and a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Polytechnic University. At Georgia State University, Sharon serves as a member on the University's staff council and is an inducted member of the National Residence Hall Honorary. Her professional affiliations are with the National and Southern Association of College and University Business Officers, and the National and Southern Association of Auxiliary Services. |

Roderick PadillaAssistant Director for IT Services | E-mailRod is a 20-year IT veteran at Georgia State University who oversees the operation of all University Housing Information Services & Technology. Rod has more than 25 years of Information Technology and state-of-the art systems experience in academia and private industry. He speaks and writes fluently in both English and Spanish and works closely with the Latino community in Georgia. Hobbies include ham radio, baseball, soccer, and music. |

She attended Iowa State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Forensic & Cultural Anthropology. She received her Master of Business Administration from American InterContinental University here in Atlanta, Georgia. Ty has worked in the hospitality industry for 11 years as a wedding, events, and conference planner. |
