Parking
Current and returning residents are given priority in receiving parking. After all current parking requests are filled, any remaining spaces are assigned to incoming residents based on the day that the University Housing Office receives their parking application. You must have a car and submit a copy of your car registration or insurance card when you complete the parking application. If you request a parking space and one is not available you will be placed on a waiting list and will be assigned a space as one becomes available. If you request parking but do not pick up and sign for your parking hangtag by the advertised deadline then you will lose your parking privilege and your space will be reassigned.
Residents placed on the parking waiting list should check their mailbox regularly because the University Housing Office will inform you of your space once through your Georgia State University residence hall mailing address.
Parking decks are secured and monitored by police 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents are given an access card to gain entry into their assigned deck. Residents are assigned a specific parking space, and must ONLY park in that space.
Illegally or improperly parked vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense. Contact the Georgia State University Police Substation for information regarding your towed vehicle.
If there is a vehicle illegally parked in your space, report it to the police immediately and have that vehicle towed.
On the various levels of the parking decks, there are several permit only parking spaces. These spaces are for service contractors and other persons serving in an official capacity at Georgia State University. DO NOT PARK in these spaces or you will be towed at your expense.
Parking costs $400 per semester, and is billed during each semester with housing fees and tuition. Motorcycle spaces are also available upon request and are billed at half the rate of a car space. You must indicate on the parking application that you would like a motorcycle space.
If you are assigned parking and wish to cancel, you may do so at the Community Desk by completing a parking cancellation form and turning in your parking hangtag if applicable. Once parking has been canceled, you are ineligible to receive parking for the remainder of that semester, but can reapply for parking during the subsequent semester and will be placed on the waiting list.
Parking deck etiquette is required of all drivers. Please observe the following:
- Be mindful of pedestrians, both in and around the decks.
- Drive slowly (5 mph) while in the parking decks.
- Observe all directional arrows and yield right-of-way.
- Many spaces are small. Please park in the center of your space and not too close to or over the lines.
- Put your headlights on while in the decks, and use turn signals to indicate when you are parking.
Enter and exit the decks slowly. As you enter, watch the arm go down behind your vehicle. This will prevent tailgating and keep the decks secure.
Servicing of vehicles, including oil changes and cleaning vehicles, is prohibited and illegal in the parking decks.
Failure to comply may result in the cancellation of parking privileges.
DO NOT park in spaces where the curb is painted yellow, where there are NO PARKING signs, or in such a manner that obstructs the view of traffic entering or exiting the decks or driveways.
