University Housing

Mail Rooms

Georgia State University Housing currently has 3 mailrooms/package distribution centers.  The Edgewood mailroom is located at Freshman Hall, the Piedmont North Mailroom is located at Piedmont North Hall A, and the Commons mailroom is located in the lobby of the University Commons. Residents who live at the Lofts, Freshman Hall, and Greek Housing will receive mail via the Edgewood Mailroom.  Commons residents will use the Commons mailroom and residents who reside in Piedmont North Hall A or B will use the Piedmont North mailroom.

GSU Housing mailrooms are able to receive mail and packages for residents and staff and will sort and distribute them accordingly. Also if you drop off properly addressed and stamped mail at the correct mail drop locations we can send letters and envelopes via the USPS couriers. However, we do not send packages, we only receive them.

Things to be aware of:

  • Mail that is sent to residents that is not addressed with their legal name or name which was given to University Housing will be sent back or NDAA to the courier, which delivered it. (If your name is Robert Johnson, please do not address mail as Bob Johnson).
  • Please pick up your packages in a timely manner from the mailrooms. We will contact you via your GSU email address. If the package is not picked up within a week, we reserve the right to return it to the sender.
  • If perishable items are delivered we will try our best to contact you, but we are not responsible for perishable items.
  • If you have special needs, such as needing mail delivered to your room or you have special medications that are delivered, please inform the mailroom of this so we can make accommodations.
  • We do not sell or distribute stamps in any of the Housing Mailrooms. Postage can be purchased from the Kell Hall post office.  Mail and packages can also be mailed from Kell Hall.
  • We cannot send or forward packages from any of the Housing Mailrooms.  We can only send and forward small packages and mail that can fit into student mailboxes.
  • When sending mail, make sure to put the appropriate amount of stamps on the envelope. Also make sure they are in the proper location on the envelope.
  • If you live at the Lofts, your mail will be distributed to your mailboxes at the Lofts, however, you will be required to pick up your packages across the street at Freshman Hall.
  • If you live at the Lofts you need to put L in front of your box number.  This is the way we differentiate your mailbox numbers from those of the Greek Housing and Freshman Hall residents since they are sorted in the same place.

Example address for Lofts residents:

Pounce The Panther

160 Edgewood Ave SE

Box L114

Atlanta, GA 30303

Moving In

When you first move into any of our Residence Halls, a mailbox number will be assigned to you before you arrive.  You will be able to pick up your mailbox key and mailbox assignment when you check in.  You will only need a key if you have a lockbox, we also have combination boxes. If you have a combination box, your mailbox assignment and combination will be emailed to you.  If you are having issues opening your box due to your key not working or your combination being broken, please notify the mailroom, not the community desks.

Moving Out

When you move out of your Housing assignment you will have the option to fill out a mail forwarding form.  What this form will do is give the mailroom staff an address to forward your mail for 30 Days.  This is not a permanent service, just a service to aid in your transition after your departure from the residence halls.  You can pick up one of these forms from the mailroom and that is where you will also need to turn it in.  Please remember that we can forward your mail, but we cannot forward packages.  When you move out you will be required to turn in your mailbox key (if you received one).  You will be charged if the key has been lost or damaged during your stay.

Mailroom Staff

The university mailrooms are staffed by Mailroom Assistants (MRAs).  The three mailrooms are supervised by 3 Mailroom Coordinators.  The coordinator for the Commons Mailroom is Alyssa Ashley, she can be reached at gsucommons.mail@gmail.com.  Regina Chen is the coordinator for the Edgewood Mailroom, she can be reached at edgewood.mail@gmail.com.  The coordinator for the Piedmont Mailroom is Brittany Knox, she can be reached at piedmont.north@gmail.com.  If you have questions or concerns about your mail or mailbox assignments, please contact the mailroom or mailroom coordinator for your building.
