2011 - 2012 Resident Assistant Application Available

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Resident Assistant for 2012-2013.  Resident Assistants play an essential role in the residence life program here at Georgia State University.  Being a Resident Assistant (RA) will challenge you to grow both personally and professionally.  The experiences you gain in this role will no doubt serve you well for the rest of your life, no matter what career path you choose!

 

University Housing and the Student Staff Search Committee are committed to selecting the most qualified applicants for Resident Assistant positions.  The selection process and requirements for application are outlined below.  Additionally, links for the RA job description (including position benefits), application and recommendation form are provided below as well.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for selection as a Resident Assistant you must:

 

  • Be in good academic, judicial and financial standing with the University.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Preferred on-campus living for at least one full semester.
  • Be a full-time student, enrolled for at least 12 credit hours per semester.

Selection process timeline and important dates

Applications Due (online only)                         

Wednesday, November 30th – Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.  Applications must be complete and include resume and three (3) recommendations.

STEPS TO APPLY:

          a.        When you get to this page, you will need to create an account for the first time.

b.       You will receive an email with a link to activate your account.

c.        Once you activate your account, you will then receive an email with your username and password.

d.       **If you don’t see an email from erezlife in your inbox, check your junk mail folder!!!

e.       Once you have your username and password, you can log in and officially begin the application process.

f.         You will only have to create an account one time!!  Do not create multiple accounts!!  You can use this same account to apply for other University Housing jobs posted as well.

2. Please remember the following

a.        Be sure to answer all questions on the online application.

b.       Attach your resume where requested on the online application.

c.        The online application contains a section for entering all three references.  Upon completion of your application, references will receive the online recommendation form via email automatically.  You will have the ability to send notifications to them throughout the selection process if you notice it has not been completed – you can do this by clicking the “send notification” button by each reference name on your application.  **NOTE: be sure to notify your references that they will receive an email to complete the recommendation form for you for the RA position and the email will be from “erezlife”.

d.       You can log back in to eRezLife to update/make changes to your RA application until the application due date of November 30th.

e.       Applications are considered incomplete without all recommendation forms submitted so be sure to follow up with your references.

 

Individual Interviews

Thursday, January 12; Friday, January 13; Thursday, January 19; Friday, January 20

All applications will be reviewed and applicants will receive an email the week of December 5th to their GSU student email account regarding selection of an interview time if they have moved on to the interview step.

Selection Seminar                               

Following the individual interviews, applicants will receive an email the week of January 23rd notifying them if they have moved on to the selection seminar.  Those who move on to this third and final step must select one of the options provided for the selection seminar.  The selection seminar is a group process that will take place once a week for three weeks.  Each session will last 1 hour and 30 minutes.  All applicants are required to attend all three weekly sessions on the day/time selected online.  The selection seminar will run Jan 30th through February 17th.

2011 – 2012 RA Decisions

Friday, March 9, 2012 – decisions will be emailed to applicants via GSU student email accounts.

 

IMPORTANT DATES, if selected as a RA for 2012-2013:

**All dates listed below are required of all Resident Assistants**

 

  •  Res Life Leadership Workshop: new RAs attend a weekly workshop for three weeks from March 26th through April 13th. **Alternate RAs are highly encouraged to attend the workshops as well.
  •  Friday, April 13, 2012 – New and Returning RAs Teambuilding/Kickoff (tentative date…subject to change)
  •  Saturday, August 4 – Sunday, August 5, 2012– All RAs return for Fall Training (please note that any RA who will also work for Housing as a SA will return on Wednesday, August 1, 2012
  •  Monday, August 6 – Tuesday, August 14, 2012 – RA Fall Training
  •  Wednesday, August 15 – Sunday, August 19, 2012 – Fall Move-In

It is also highly likely that we will incorporate some RA training modules throughout the summer months via email.  Please plan accordingly and we will be sure to communicate any other requirements as soon as they are confirmed.  Before making any travel plans, if selected, we encourage you to check in with our professional staff.
